Out on her skateboard

Out on her skateboard

I needed the practice of photographing someone in motion. And she needed an impartial ear to listen and help guide her with a conflict in her personal life...

Sunny and hot, she wore a mostly-black top with black denim shorts. Black and white seemed mandatory. Though taking nearly 1200 exposures and getting only 12 final shots is a little disappointing.

But when you're photographing someone in motion, especially when they're "dancing" on a skateboard, getting anything is a crapshoot unless you know what you're doing. Getting anything that really stands out? Even more so. And it's the "stands out" that I was looking for when going through the initial set.

But I also made sure to get some stationary portraits. That way even if I completely screwed up and couldn't get anything good from the motion shots, I still had... something. Something I also made sure to do when I initially met Meranda. But thankfully I didn't end up with just the stationary portraits.
