Senior and grad

Senior year is a special time, whether you're a high school or college senior. Graduation even more so, since it marks the end of a chapter in your life and represents a significant accomplishment.

So the photo shoot going with it should represent that accomplishment.

And with me, your senior or graduation portraits will not be a small affair. If you're wanting a quick half-hour shoot, look elsewhere. If you're wanting a unique experience to stand out among your peers, keep reading.

You can see my senior and graduation shoots here.

Casual and semi-formal

As I said above, this will not be a small affair. Your graduation or senior portraits will be in two sessions, which can be on different days: a casual and semi-formal.

Casual is self-explanatory: casual clothes, casual setting. Though the casual portion of your graduation shoot will also be featuring your cap and gown.

The semi-formal portion of your graduation shoot will be at your high school or college, and ideally you should wear the same as when walking at your graduation, though this isn't mandatory.

The dress for the semi-formal senior portraits should be business professional or "church clothes". Women can also go with something more elegant while still staying below what is typically considered formal attire.

When

Graduation pictures are best left for after graduation, in my opinion. I know there are a lot of graduates who choose to do them before they walk for their graduation, but I feel it best left for after.

Senior portraits, honestly, can be done any time after the student has finished their junior year. While it's most common for senior portraits to be taken over the summer preceding their senior year, there is no requirement on this. And it's often better to wait till the weather tends to not be... oppressively hot. It also avoids us having to work around everyone else.

You can also add a unique look to your shoot by scheduling any portion to be at dusk or night. As the semi-formal portion of a graduation shoot will be at your high school or college, that portion will always be held during the day.

Where

Graduation shoot. Again, semi-formal portion will be at your high school or college, outdoors only. The casual portion can be most anywhere appropriate. Note that because this is intended to be casual, it will not be in a photo studio.

Senior photos. The location for the semi-formal and casual portions is entirely up to you. The semi-formal portion can be held at MotiveKC, but that will be with extra cost.

What to expect

Sessions. Expect each session will be between 60 and 90 minutes, possibly longer depending on how things go. And be sure to read this page as well to get an idea of what we expect from you - Preparing for a Shoot. It should also answer most if not all questions you may have - e.g., "Can I bring a friend?" Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or feel anything needs clarified.

Photos. You'll get all the digitals that turn out, which should be at least 15 from each session. Turnaround time on delivery will be about 2 to 3 weeks.

Unique experience. If I do my job right, my hope is that I'll give you a unique experience that will be the envy of everyone in your graduating class.

If you do not see a form below to fill out, you can access the form here. Provide the required information and I'll reach out via your preferred method of contact to further discuss this.
