It’s been over two years now since I started actively photographing random people. It’s been an adventure, to say the least. Both with social anxiety and the variety of people I’ve met along the way.
And in the last couple years I’ve been doing this, there have been quite a few young women I’ve seen at the couple locations I do this that I’ve intentionally passed up. Had I approached them they likely would’ve said yes to me photographing them. Because they’re trying to act like models anyway, with online profiles featuring manufactured realities. Their online personas provided courtesy of filters integrated into Instagram or what have you.
And on this evening, I passed (up) two such women. Tall and slender wearing form-fitting clothes, makeup and (what appeared to be) designer sunglasses. Very attractive, yes. But they looked like they were there to take pictures of each other to pad out their social media profiles.
Then I noticed Meagan in the distance. She was killing time before needing to pick up her daughter. Even from hundreds of feet away, I could tell she was a lot more wholesome compared to the two women I just mentioned. She was there to enjoy the lake, the scenery, not make it a backdrop for her social media.
