Lara

Another hot afternoon. Another hot vendor.

Lara makes benches and other creations from wood slabs, the voids filled with epoxy. And she relayed a humorous-in-hindsight story about accidentally epoxying one to her garage or workspace floor.

So in discussing woodworking, I pointed her to the Woodcraft of Kansas City in Lenexa since she lives in Olathe, since Woodcraft has slabs of various wood species, allowing her to add some variety to her creations.

Then the conversation turned toward photography, as she asked whether photographing in the sun was an issue. And it's never really been an issue for me because I use a CPL. Plus I don't get hung up on the whole "harsh light" thing so many other photographers needlessly obsess over.

And that gave me the perfect point to turn it back on her.

Check out her Instagram.

Toward the end of the flea market, she was sitting on one of her benches under her tent. The pose was perfect, so I just asked her to not move. Her daughter and husband were probably momentarily confused...
