Kansas City Renaissance Festival - 2026 - Day 3

WARNING: This post features a LOT of photos.

Starting out today around the Queen's Entrance for... reasons... And around there is a small shop selling scented soaps. Got to talking with the owner a bit about various things. In part the fact the cloud forecast for the day was... wildly off. Mostly cloudy and overcast was the forecast, but it didn't look like it would stay that way.

That allowed him to segue into having been a wedding photographer. In California... He also talked about nature photography, including his time in the Army out in Virginia, which is where I grew up. Anyway... after talking with him, I opted to try for the woman standing outside who was, admittedly, the only reason I was checking out the shop to begin with.

I debated about mentioning much the same I did with last year's Ren Fest compilations, but I'm going to do it anyway: please ask those you wish to photograph for consent. And this next woman shows an... obvious reason why...

She was up near the front. Somewhat elaborate attire, and carrying a basket on her back.

A few others while walking the grounds...

And speaking of walking the grounds... If you've never seen Monty Python and the Holy Grail... first, I envy you. I wish I could get my time back from having watched it as it's one of the most unfunny and annoying movies I've ever seen. But second, you may have been momentarily confused by two guys walking the grounds clacking coconuts to sound like horse hooves.

And it's a very persistent part of that movie. And the main reason I say it's one of the most unfunny movies I've ever seen, despite it being billed as a comedy. Yet, somehow, people treat it as a comedy masterpiece when, to me, it's easily one of the most overrated movies ever made. Even more so than the Star Wars franchise. Since.. at least I could make it through the first 5 minutes of a Star Wars movie without being hopelessly annoyed.

Anyway...

I'd stopped by Absinthe & Alchemy earlier in my walk around the grounds and had a good chat with a couple of the staff, with the intent of circling back when I was preparing to leave. So after buying a couple items from them...

But leaving the grounds doesn't mean I stop looking for people to photograph. That only comes when I get to my car. So that means not ignoring this opportunity that was standing right in front of me immediately outside the exit.

And same with this adorable one walking toward the entrance as I was moving toward my car. Out on the gravel, the only backgrounds are a bus and... cars. A bit too on the nose, so since she's headed in, I'm willing to backtrack for one last round.
