Hawk at Antioch Park

Near Shelter 1 at Antioch - near the basketball court - I heard a commotion in some folliage near the ground that caught my attention. A minute later, a hawk flew out and landed in a tree.

Then it took off through the trees toward the Rose Garden.

Further up the path, I came across a family who at first thought I was trying to get by. I told the father I was keeping an eye out for a hawk that few in the direction we were walking, and showed them one of the shots from my camera. They kept walking down the path, and I went into the trees.

Then I heard them yelling out they'd seen the hawk.

Back at Antioch that evening, walking around the boardwalk, I noticed a woman get up at first, then she clutched her chihuahua and sat back down seemingly in a hurry. That's when I saw the hawk perched on the fence behind the woman. And I'm pretty sure it's the same individual I'd seen not only this day but two nights before tearing apart a squirrel.

These shots were taken with my 85mm f/1.4 from only a few feet away.
