I didn't notice her at first. There were two younger Asian women that I noticed first, just wandering around the lake's southern shoreline. I kept my distance, though, wanting to not only initially observe them but also look for anything else that might be of interest.
And that's when I noticed Emaree and her dog. I see plenty of women with dogs at the parks I frequent. I didn't approach her at first, and not because of the dog, but again keeping an eye out for other prospective subjects. That she was smoking something also initially turned me away.
But there was... something about her. I can't quite put my finger on it.
As expected, the dog was initially protective. It's why we keep dogs as pets. (Ever been stared down by a Pomeranian trying to size you up?)
