When I first saw her going around the park on her electric skateboard (also called an "e-board"), I hoped we'd cross paths in a way that I could talk to her. In part because, yes, she's hot. But also because I wanted to try to get shots of her riding the board.
And like with my previous attempts with Meranda and Alexa, I made sure to get stationary shots of her as well, including a couple quick directed shots at the end.
And in this instance, that paid off since only... two action shots were keepers. So what happened here? Why did I not have more action shots like with my previous attempts? It was fast approaching dusk.
And while dusk was approaching with Alexa as well, she wasn't constantly moving toward or away from the camera. And while Meranda was, being on her skateboard, it was daylight both times.
With Clarissa, I was combining the waning light with her also moving at a pretty decent clip on the walking path. Oh well...
I've said to other photographers that choosing to shoot street photography or street portraiture means you're giving up a LOT of control over the shots. And that means having to accept the risk you'll miss shots.
