Bald eagles
These shots were taken across three days.
January 8: “This morning there were about a dozen bald eagles at the lake taking advantage of the bounty of snow geese flying through the area. And given what I’d heard from a couple other photographers this morning, the eagles were following them from up north. As a flock of about 800 individuals was spotted earlier this week near Mound City, Missouri. It was overcast with drizzle hovering above freezing with a south wind. Read: miserable. Tomorrow the light is supposed to be better as we won’t be overcast, but the temperature… won’t be. But hopefully with better light will come better shots.”
January 9: “Didn’t have the same luck as yesterday finding bald eagles, but I wasn’t entirely expecting such. Though there were… hundreds of snow geese flocking to WyCo Lake and likely other lakes in the area. I really hope air traffic controllers are accounting for that when pilots report in about that.”
January 22: “A 2-year bald eagle challenging an adult for a goose kill. Meanwhile the ravens are just hoping for scraps.”
