I don't get many opportunities to photograph black women, just simply because blacks don't tend to frequent where I typically go. It's mostly whites and Latinos.
So when I noticed Alexis sitting on that bench, I walked past her at first merely to gauge the situation. Sun was going down, but still high enough in the sky it was shining right where she was sitting - e.g., similar to when I met Josie. And I decided to go for it.
