2025 - No. 10
This issue starts out with a car show. Well... kind of, since I wasn't exactly photographing the cars... Instead there's Mimi sitting in the passenger seat of one of the cars on display. And I couldn't walk through there without trying for shots of the servers - Madison, Lindsay, and Cristina.
Then comes another Sunday at the River Market. With Saba and her Deathnote T-shirt and striped skirt and Brenna wearing all red. And Jordan definitely being the departure from the other two with her denim top and a pencil skirt with an interesting mix of colors.
And the new Linkin Park was at the T-Mobile Center that evening. So keep an eye out for Patricia in her blue flannel and ripped jeans and Violet wearing something probably better suited for the Ghost concert a few weeks ago.
The streetcar was also out of commission for a week, meaning walking from the City Market into the downtown loop since I was not riding the bus they used as a stand-in. But that wasn't all bad since I found Cameryn wandering around Delaware south of 5th when I got back up to the River Market that night.
Fox Sports was setting up the stage for Chiefs home opener, positioning it so Kansas City Live! was behind the analysts. And two friends poked out onto the PNC Patio to have a look at everything. After a mini-shoot with them, it was back up to the upper deck where Taylor was hanging out outside Howl At The Moon and being very enthusiastic about being photographed - jumping right at the chance and having zero issue showing herself off.
This issue's cover feature takes me almost full circle to my beginning with street portraiture.
I first met Hannah back in May 2020. She was walking North along the Tomahawk Creek Trail just South of the College Parkway overpass. And we crossed paths a couple more times around that area. Autumn 2021 was the last time I was down on those trails regularly, as I transitioned to Wyandotte County Lake for finding people and wildlife.
So imagine my surprise when we crossed paths again. Downtown. After over 4 years.
I said with No. 6 that I didn't think I'd found a more perfect photo for a cover feature. And that was true. At that time. Hannah, however... I don't think there can be a more perfect cover feature possible for any issue going forward simply because of her connection to how I got started.
That she is one of the first.
